Description
Established in 1918, the University of Nizhni Novgorod is now one of Russia's leading institutions of higher education and scientific research.
During seven and a half decades of its existence the University has trained over 50 000 specialists in various areas. Now it comprises 11 faculties, 76 departments and 4 research institutes with 890 faculty members, including 9 Merited Scientists, 3 State Prize winners, 103 full professors (D.Sc.) and 475 associate professors (Cand.Sc.).
Curriculum Overview
The University Library contains over 1 300 000 volumes to meet the information needs of students and faculty. The University of Nizhni Novgorod offers Ph.D. programs (in English) for Ph.D. students specializing in Radiophysics, Physics, Chemistry, History, POlitical Science and Applied Mathematics and an International Certificate Program on International and Russian Studies for graduate and postgraduate students (taught in English) lasting for one, two or four semesters. The University of Nizhni Novgorod offers the Program of Intensive Russian Teaching, Familiarization with the Russian Literature, History, Economy, Religion and Culture, the Russian Language Summer Program, and Russian for Everybody Program. The University of Nizhni Novgorod is proud of a number of its renowned scientific schools that have become centres of excellence.
