Curriculum Overview
MSVU offers 38 undergraduate degrees in liberal arts and sciences and an array of professional programs including Applied Human Nutrition, Business Administration, Child and Youth Study, Education, Family Studies and Gerontology, Information Technology, Public Relations, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. Co-operative education is offered in five of these professional programs. In addition, 13 graduate programs build on and enhance undergraduate program strengths. Our friendly and experienced academic staff is always ready to inspire the minds of MSVU students
Student Life
A small university with a global outlook, MSVU fosters academic excellence and educates the leaders of tomorrow. Our unique sense of community and personalized approach to education means class sizes are small, and students have access to high quality faculty and opportunities to be involved in research. In fact, MSVU has among the lowest faculty-to-student ratios and smallest class sizes in Canada.
Special Services
MSVU is a pioneer in technology-mediated Distance Learning in the Maritimes with the introduction of televised courses in the early 1980s, web based learning in the late 1990s and real-time virtual classroom teaching over the Internet in 2003. Today, MSVU is piloting podcasting as a means to augment course delivery
Financial Aid
Our University offers a guaranteed scholarship program for all entering students with an 80 per cent or above high school average, ranging from $500 to $3500. Over last couple of years the amount of scholarships awarded has been tripled. WE also have more prestigious awards such as the Presidential Scholarship rated at $36,000.
Housing
We work hard to make your move to university as comfortable as possible. One of the greatest things about living here is the convenience - you don't have to worry about cooking or travelling to and from class. MSVU is also a great place to make lifelong friends - and the shared experience of residence living is a great way to discover them.
We offer three styles of residence: Assisi Hall is a 12-storey building with single and double rooms for 142 female students; The Birches are five townhouses, each with 20 single rooms (with two female units, two co-ed units, and one international/mature students unit); and Westwood features 158 beds in both apartment-style and single dormitory format.
