Student Life
Canberra , Australia's National Capital, is an open-planned city nestled in a picturesque bushland setting. With a history spanning just over 80 years - one person's lifetime - Canberra combines history and culture with the infrastructure and facilities of a modern city. Its population of 323,600 represents a small yet highly educated multicultural community, which provides the city with an international flavor without compromising the relaxed atmosphere central to its design.
Canberra is a vibrant university city with a huge student population, due to the numerous universities and technical colleges located here. As a result, the city has much to offer students, from lively pub and cafe cultures, clubs and bars, live music venues, cheap eats and a flourishing local arts community. Local and national film festivals rub shoulders with art, writing, theatre and dance, and many events are free or discounted for students.
